About

My paintings are the result of attempting to find the extraordinary in the ordinary of what I'm looking at and convey it in paint.

I work indoors and outdoors; with the former usually the light source is electric, and with the latter in natural light. I'm drawn to things that I find enchanting, beautiful or unsettling, I suppose. Or whatever fires my imagination.

My way of working is a process of observation, addition, subtraction, simplification, self doubt, obsession, some other things and wondering if that was the last brushstroke or if I need to retouch it the next day. I paint as quickly as possible with the intention of capturing the essence or moment and creating a tangible space on a flat canvas surface, interpreting what I see into a harmony and tension through line, shape, colour, tone and texture. Each time always pushing myself to produce a better painting than the last one!
